WELCOME

Dear colleagues and guests,
THE FIRST BH WATER CONGRESS, organised by ACE BH (Association of Consulting Engineers of Bosnia and Herzegovina) and institutions involved in water resource management in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is going to be held in Sarajevo on 27 and 28 October 2016.
We are aware of the position in which the BH society and economy are, the importance of all aspects of sustainable use of water, protection from harmful effects of water and protection of water as a resource of the future, as well as of complex institutional, legal and economic conditions under which the water sector operates.
Therefore, by organising the First BH Water Congress we wish for water in BH to be recognised as a possible driver of development in the energy, agriculture, industry, tourism and other sectors.
The Congress has an international character.
The Congress will gather experts, consultants and researchers, representatives of the public sector and authorities and non-governmental organisations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, neighbouring countries and the EU, with a view to analyse results achieved to date and future challenges in optimising the management of water resources, especially from the aspect of use. It will be an opportunity to establish a strong, wide interactive forum for inciting a new development cycle based on sustainable use of water in BiH.
The below topics will be addressed at the Congress:
• Sustainable development and waters
• Water Policy
• Development strategy and water management
• Cooperation between water sector and other sectors
• Financing projects in the water sector
• Human resources and education in the water sector
• Miscellaneous – various topics concerning water
We are confident that you active participation in the Congress will contribute to finding ways towards expediting the implementation of strategic development projects at the European, regional and local level in BH.

LOCATION

The UNITIC Centre is one of the largest and technologically the most contemporary business centres in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The unique feature of the UNITIC and its proximity to the best hotels, restaurants, parking areas and public transport, makes this location fantastic for the Congress.

Applications for papers (titles) must be submitted no later than 01 August 2016 via email to: uki@bih.net.ba or via fax No.+387 33 276 355. Paper abstracts, up to 20 typed rows, must be submitted by 01 August 2016.
Authors of papers can download instructions for drafting papers on the Association’s web page: www.uki.ba. Final versions of papers must be drafted in accordance with the said instructions and be submitted in electronic format, via email uki@bih.net.ba, no latter than 01 October 2016.
